PASSAGGI ATINA, ITALY 2019
During a two week artist residency in Atina, I created this golden vessel, from leaves and branches collected around the landscape of Atina. The God of the sun, Saturn is associated with the region. An ancient legend tells that, after being banished by Jupiter from Greece, Saturn arrived Italy by boat and sought refuge - he founded five cities, Atina, Arpino, Antinum (now Ferentino), Alatri, and Anagni.
