LADEN
I arrived in Atina for a two week artist residency, following the death of my dear friend Sara Sheppard. I felt the dead weight of grief. The process of shrouding rocks in linen became an act of memorial and ritual. I contemplated how stone acts as a materiel and an object, onto which we project ideas of death and mourning reflecting the deep time they have and will endure.

AFTERWARD and FIDGET: Leaving the rocks behind in Atina, the linen shapes were filled with salt and upholstery stuffing.
